Anacortes is experiencing rapid growth, and I want to ensure that we preserve what’s best about our community, including our natural resources and small-town atmosphere. Through my work as deputy library director for Mount Vernon I have direct, hands-on experience with city government operations, budgeting, personnel and planning. My volunteer activities demonstrate my commitment to this community.
As your councilmember, I will listen carefully and be a strong voice for protecting and strengthening our diverse neighborhoods, making sure that growth is integrated thoughtfully and legally. I will devote extensive time to prepare for council meetings and will work to make the values of our Comprehensive Plan a reality. We can boost City revenues by capitalizing on the economic opportunities created by tourism and green economy initiatives. Along with supporting our maritime economy, unique local stores, we can expand solar and green energy jobs. Anacortes can be more efficient and sustainable.
I have lived in this wonderful town for over 22 years, and my children have benefited from our excellent schools, parks and a caring community. I believe we can find options for affordable, middle-class housing. Together we can make Anacortes even better. I look forward to serving you.
